It’s built into apps like Messages and Keynote and will have a dedicated app. Genmoji takes this a step further, letting you create custom emoji-style characters on the fly based on a text description or even a photo of a person.
  • A Reimagined Siri: Siri is receiving its biggest update yet. With a richer language understanding, Siri can now parse more natural and complex commands. Crucially, it has on-screen awareness, meaning you can ask it to perform an action related to what you’re looking at, like “Add this address to his contact card.” It can also take hundreds of new actions within and across apps, like finding a photo from a specific trip and adding it to a note.

To fill this gap, Apple has integrated OpenAI’s GPT-4o model directly into its operating systems. This is not a default setting but an opt-in feature. When Siri or other tools determine that a request could benefit from ChatGPT’s capabilities, the user is explicitly asked for permission before any information is sent.

Apple has built strong privacy protections into this partnership. Requests are not stored by OpenAI, and user IP addresses are obscured. Users can leverage this integration for free without creating an account. Subscribers to ChatGPT can also connect their accounts to access paid features directly within the Apple ecosystem.
